Continuous casting has evolved to achieve improved yield quality productivity and cost efficiency. The working principle of the CCM is that the liquefied metal poured into Tundish which is a container that leads to the Mould that will caste the steel. The Tundish is placed at a certain height above the ground level and the whole process of casting uses gravity to operate the Tundish is constantly supplied with molten steel to keep the process going. The molten metal moves swiftly through the Mould and does not completely solidify in it. The entire mould is cooled with water. After exiting the spray chamber, the strand passes through straightening rolls and withdrawal rolls. Finally billet is cut in desired length (manually or automatically) and conveyed through roller table & stored in cooling bed or sometimes directly feed to rolling mill.
